Last Lunch of the Semester

At the end of spring semester, I gathered one more time for lunch with my international students. L to R: Amber, me, Helen.

It was easy to decide where to eat; they chose Egg Rolls Plus. A locally owned, Hmong restaurant with the best egg rolls and pho. Amber was happy with her selection!

Garage Sale Fun

A few weekends ago there was a huge neighborhood garage sale where my friends live and they let me join in.  We were all happy with the money we made, that we got rid of stuff and it didn't rain. Now I'm motivated to scrounge up more stuff to sell.

Here's Tim with his ice cream.

Jasmine's so talented she could eat her ice cream and be the cashier.

Is Mike smiling because he's making money or enjoying the ice cream?

Thinking Warm Thoughts

Happy Memorial Day! Today's weather isn't what you'd hope for on a holiday weekend, but we'll have to live with it. Currently 57 degrees, a predicted high of 63, cloudy and gray, chance of thundershowers.

As I sit here and wish for the sun to make an appearance, I'll be prepared for hot weather with one of these.......

A Delicious Meal

A while back, one of our international students, Helen wanted to make us a Korean meal - I wasn't going to turn that offer down. She prepared bulgogi.

Here she is making the kim chee pancakes - yummy!

Pancho wanted to get in on the action too; he's no dummy, he knew there was somethin' good going on.

Enjoying the meal. From L to R: Todd, Kodai, Helen, Amber.

I Work in a Beautiful Place

I'm so fortunate to work on a beautiful campus. Despite construction for the last couple of years, there are still many wonderful things, like this tree outside the building I work in.

Things were in bloom at the just the right time, the weekend of graduation.
Tulips greeted everyone as they arrived at the arena for the graduation ceremony.

Spring Has Sprung

This past weekend felt a little more spring like; we've had a long winter. The photos are deceiving because it was sunny, but still quite cool (think wool socks, long pants and a good fleece if the wind wasn't blowing).

Had lots of fun shopping at my favorite garden store: 2 kinds of lettuce, green onion, chives, 2 types of basil, 2 types of tomato, 2 types of cilantro. Ooooh the possibilities.....

Misty enjoying the sun with her cubby.

If it's above 40 degrees, you can still grill; yum, yum veggies. We had grilled carrots and pork chops too.

We're Back

After more than 2 yrs away from blogging, we're back. You can thank my sweet Aunty Sue for encouraging me to start it back up. She suggested I do this 8 months ago and it's been on my mind ever since (guilty is another way to put it).

Today is a great day to restart the blog because it's Boy's Day, Cinco de Mayo, and it's beautifully sunny and warmer. We've been having colder weather and later than usual snow storms (can you say climate change?). Here's a picture of our adventure up north a few weeks ago.
Our view from the cabin, looking through the pines at Gunflint lake, the shore at the other end is Canada.

Driving up north was awful - so thankful we made it without going off the icy roads. We were rewarded with snowshoeing in over a foot of fresh powder.

oh hello, dear.

Leisurely Sunday

Although it's really cold outside, we were all happy to see some blue sky and sunshine. Misty decided to do some sun worship and found a cozy spot while she cuddled with her baby hedge hog (compliments of Aunty Jen).
Meanwhile, Todd was plunking away on the computer while I was reading a good book. Aaaah, need more afternoons like that.
