Fresh Air & Sunshine

It was absolutely gorgeous on the weekend, I decided vacuuming and ironing could wait. It was more important to get out and enjoy.

Be Gone

Thank goodness Todd is a handy hubby. Here he is working some magic on the old dishwasher.
 Getting it un-stuck.
 ............and it's out!
It would be really nice to put the recycle bins in this space.... we'll see.

Renovations

Recently I've had to take a break from my crochet hobby and turn my attention to the kitchen. The appliances were here when we bought the house, but it's time for an update.
All the wood in the kitchen was custom made with extra thick wood. It is nice (yet dated), and new appliances don't fit in the custom woodwork so I hired my co-worker's son to dismantle the cabinets above the frig and the wall on the side of the frig.
There was also custom wood work around the vent hood above the stove. Time to go, the vent hood hadn't worked for quite some time and removing the wood made a big difference. The kitchen feels more spacious and bright having; all by removing just a small amount of the wood work.
Then there is this ancient dishwasher. I don't think it works; we've never used it.
Actually, we have used it...... for storage.  I guess I should file my taxes and hope for a decent return since the expenditure on new appliances has already been made.

Hobbies, Habits, Happy

If you've seen previous posts, you know I have a new hobby. I think I'm still in the learning stage, but having a lot of fun.
This is my fourth attempt at a scarf, not bad but the edges still aren't so straight. This one was pretty simple, two rows of double crochet alternating with two rows of single crochet.
I got bored with the single, double and triple crochet stitches so I went on Youtube to find other designs. I really like this one, the pavement stitch and  the yarn is my favorite color.
On to a another one, this one was fun and easy, using an alternating pattern. It's called the waffle stitch. The question is.... when does a hobby become a habit? And is that necessarily a bad thing? This is a happy hobby and a productive one too. I need to give away these scarves or I can't justify buying more yarn.

Emergency Situation

A few weeks ago we had an emergency situation in the house, NO RICE! Can you believe it? I need to have a talk with the person responsible...... oh wait, that would be me. This dire situation called for drastic measures. I spent way too much on the this small bag of rice. I'm not proud, but there it is.
Thankfully, I'm now resupplied. Todd headed to the cities this past weekend and when he asked if I needed anything, I saw my chance. We are back in business!

TGIF

Happy Friday. Yes...... it's still cold here, but it's Friday, the sun is out and it'll warm up into the teens. It ain't so bad; love wearing my sweaters. Besides, shivering burns more calories.

For the Love of Family & Friends

I feel so lucky because I got to see friends and family that I hadn't seen in eons. Here I am with cousin Sandie and Aunty Yoshie. Such fond memories of spending time at Aunty's house in Pearl City when I was little.
Sandie and her hubby; can't wait to plan a trip to visit them in WA.
I arrived a day after my sister's birthday and her two best friends took us out for a birthday celebration. Good food and fabulous company - that's all I need.

Friends

It had been too many years since I saw these lovely people, two of my BEST friends from college. Dean and Jo with their adorable son.
So many good college memories.
